Meet the Founder

Karen Foster

Experience Curator

Hello Beautiful People!

I’m Karen Foster. Pacific Northwest native of Black and Caribbean heritage, an HBCU graduate, and a community connector. Created with a heart to serve, I am a champion for change, creating equitable spaces for all historically excluded communities.

Using my God-given gifts, as Founder and Experience Curator of KF Curates. I help businesses and organizations move from ideation to execution. As a thought partner, I collaborate with clients to bring their purposeful event vision to life through strategy, coordinating logistics, production, and day of event management.

A lover of all details, my superpower is managing all the behind-the-scenes logistics and operations. With my proven ability to strategically produce flawlessly executed events that cultivate equitable and memorable experiences. I eliminate the stress of event planning and make space for clients to work on other important things with ease.

I am also the co-founder of The Visionary Squad, a community-based organization that sees the power behind the story of every Black woman and cultivates space for her to be heard through building community and collective healing. I was the Experience Curator behind the 2020 Ain’t Cancelled! series, a webby nominated virtual mental wellness series produced during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Clients Say About

KF Curates

"I hired Karen to produce the 2020 Women on Boards Campaign Fundraiser for the state of Oregon in November 2020. Needless to say, the social and market environment was incredibly challenging in 2020 to run a virtual fundraiser and Karen kept us focused, resilient and on target throughout the year. Her expertise in producing vibrant, engaging and dynamic virtual events was second to none and I know that she was the 'secret sauce' that made our event the best in the country. Karen prepped our VIP speakers, advised on event flow, and consulted on how we could ensure the event was welcoming to a variety of leaders from various industries, communities and overall demographics. In other words, Karen will make your next virtual event SING. Hire her today and you will be in the best of production hands."

"Working with KF Curates has been a pleasure and a dream of mine. Karen has opened up doors for me as a Black Woman in the Pacific Northwest to share my lived experiences that I would have never imagined. She ensures that each event highlights the experience of women of color in an equitable way. Her work is always done from a lens of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She is an added jewel to our community."
Paula ByrdFounder & Executive Director of The Byrd’s Nest
"Karen brings the perfect blend of humanity, humility and humor to her work, which has been critical as we've been side-by-side navigating new territory with clients. As co-facilitators of diversity, equity, inclusions and belongings forums, creating spaces conducive to learning is no small feat, but Karen does it with ease. Her energy is contagious, and she cares deeply about the work she is up to in the world."
Shannon O’MalleyFounder of Shan&
"Karen Foster's networking skills are incomparable. In 2020 during the midst of the pandemic, I was in need of a presenter to facilitate a series of remote leadership trainings that would evoke impactful engagement. Karen was not only able to connect me with a dynamic presenter, but she coordinated all of the behind-the-scenes operations and event execution, allowing me to focus on other pieces of the work. The audience also left each session transformed and equipped to take action. Karen Foster's talents exceed all expectations. She personifies EXCEPTIONAL!"

"I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Karen on three separate projects as guest speaker, DEI Facilitator, and panelist for (PDX Women of Color, The Visionary Squad and Culture Conversations) over the past couple of years. Karen has consistently been informative, encouraging and leads with her heart in her work. Karen is responsive to the needs of her intended audience and customizes experiences that inspire continual engagement and empowerment. I have enjoyed how present and intentional she is with her collaborators and clients, it clearly kept me engaged in and supportive of her work. Karen is providing a desirable and in-demand service for the people. I am grateful for her work and her ability to keep our communities connected. "

"Karen Denese, the Founder and CEO of KF Curates, has been instrumental in connecting The Corporate Strategist brand to the academic and bio science industries. Karen is a detail-oriented experience curator hyper-focused on event logistics and the human experience. Additionally KF Curates has evolved into an agency that identifies gaps in the community, filling them with impactful minority-owned perspectives. This company is one that elevates the voice of the unheard and ensures every moment they celebrate is recognized in a very special way."
Blaire G. HerveyFounder of The Corporate Strategist
"When B. Glory Balloon Decor decided to launch a small business showcase with short notice, KF Curates swooped in to manage all of the critical details. We needed someone to manage vendor relationships, recruit volunteers and create a run of show that kept an intimate audience engaged. KF Curates exceeded our expectations! This Black woman owned company is thorough, thoughtful and meticulous about serving their clients and creating lasting experiences for all attendees."
Ashley Webb & Blaire G. HerveyFounder & Co-Owners of B. Glory Balloon Decor
"I was a panelist on the “2020 Ain’t Cancelled!” series. Karen is an absolute treasure and the care she takes when curating events is simply magical. I walked away from my experience with her feeling like I had been brought into a community, and I’d be thrilled to work with her again in the future."
Halle M. Thomas
"Karen is highly talented and dedicated. She has brought innumerable value to my virtual events business. Karen is a valuable partner during the ideation phase but extremely laser-focused during the implementation and retrospective during the recap phase. Her attention to detail and willingness to go above and beyond has been a lifeline for my business during these challenging times. As we pivot to new projects, I know that her flexibility and skill set will be a trusted resource for my business and any new business acquisitions."
Michelle SprottFounder of Brunchnista
"We contracted Karen to assist us with the backend of our virtual brunch series. She was very professional, efficient, and easy to work with. She made our programs run seamlessly. Karen demonstrated both her technical proficiency and attention to detail throughout the entire duration (6+ months). We enjoyed having her insights and experience to help us develop engaging programming and drive promotion of the virtual experience. We look forward to working with her again on future projects."
